It means "to the power of" So 4 ^ 3 is 4*4*4 it's easy to get that mixed up with 4*3!

Because there are no raised numbers, in math there is the ^ sign to show it is to the power of. The same thing is used I. hopscotch

X ^ 3 would be cubed, not a cube root, but I can see how you would think x ^ 4 is cube, because there are 4 sides on a square, but it's 3 because a cube us 3 Demensional. Squared is x ^2
