Hey Hopscotchers, you can now earn seeds with your projects with the Request Seed block as a part of the Hopscotch subscription! Here is how it works:
The Request Seed block can be found in the blue Control section of the blocks keyboard.
Each product can only be sold once in your game. This means that if someone already bought a speed boost in your game, they cannot purchase it again. To sell other types of speed boost in your game, you can create multiple speed boost products in the Request Seed block.
To prevent people from changing your code and removing the seed purchases, all projects with the Request Seed block will not be remix-able in Hopscotch.
Try out the seed block today with your subscription! You can use this block to charge seeds for extra levels, special ability upgrades, and different skins for your characters. Can you think of other things to sell in your project?
You are also getting four new blocks in Hopscotch:
The Set Trail Cap block changes how the ends of the line will look. This block is available in Advanced Mode.
The Set Trail Opacity block changes how transparent a line appears. This block is available in Advanced Mode.
The Show Pop-up block shows the users a message in a pop-up window. It’s useful for announcements, hints and instructions in your project.
The Join block will combine two strings for you easily.
Other improvements:
You can now add comments outside of rules. Scroll to the custom section of the keyboard and tap “Add a comment” to create new comments in your code.
The coding editor is now wider on iPad to help you see more code at once.
That’s it for now! We cannot wait to see what you will create with all the new features. If you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com. Happy Hopscotching!
I like everything about the update, but I really don’t understand why everyone who has a subscription gets the seed block.
Everyone who has the subscription can now also cheat and earn seeds with spam accounts, and then The Hopscotch Team doesn’t earn money with seeds anymore.
Wait…
People with access to the seed block can just create infinite accounts on the web explorer, and since every account starts with 5 seeds, they can just spam themselves seeds! ):0
Literally everyone who has wanted the seed block ever:
LETS GOOOOOOOOO!!
@KingGuin87@MarkerGames while you can create multiple accounts, only one of your accounts can have the subscription. Unless you have infinite amounts of Apple IDs (which is required to get the subscription), we should be fine.
I’ve always wanted this to happen. Best improvement ever!
I also see comments went from being a blue block to a block that only shows text and the drag icons, and is now right next to custom blocks (which was mentioned in the changelog )…
This changes the “economy” very interestingly now people are more likely to buy things as they might have a bigger influx of seeds and now I have more projects I can use my seeds on because I just have thousands sitting in my account.
Being able to add comments outside of rules is a game changer, because now when can describe what an entire Custom Rule does without needing an extra When Game Starts Rule. And since comments don’t do anything and are just for aesthetics, you can do this in any player version, and it’ll work just fine (as in your project won’t crash… ofc, every block that’s not compatible due to the lower player version is ignored anyways)…
Edit: no you can’t, it only works in player version 2.2.0, unfortunately… and trying to drag it out from inside any rules will automatically delete it if the project is not on the compatible player version (the deletion part is definitely a bug, it should be snapping it back into the last compatible spot).
I understand your point, but it’d be worse if everyone had it, and the subscribers pay for it, so there kinda has to be benefits.
people always cheated with self planting, and self (seeding?) isnt different because plants come from seeds lol. people are always gonna find loopholes.
the seed block doesnt improve your coding, it doesnt even affect your coding. its just a bonus.
