Get excited - you are getting a brand new editor in Hopscotch! Now, you can make your own multi-level games or multi-page storybook easily with the scenes feature. Here are some quick facts about scenes:
Scenes are different screens or stages of your game
Use the blue “Change Scenes” block in the Control section to switch between scenes
You can add, delete, rename or drag to reorder the scenes in the scenes menu
Test out your code easily by tapping the “Play” button to preview the current scene
You are also getting some bug fixes in this release:
Some of you have reported that Hopscotch would crash unexpectedly on your devices. Great news - we have a fix! This version will allow you to code, play, and learn in Hopscotch without interruption.
Previously, the text would go back randomly when typing a long paragraph. This bug is now fixed. Thanks to StarlightStudios for spotting this!
The Open Project block was causing the app to crash when you pasted a project link. This is now fixed. A special shout-out to Crosbyman64 for reporting this!
Deleting custom images in your project was not working. Now you can delete custom images from the keyboard section again. Hat tip to Creation Productions for reporting this!
Some projects in the community were not showing custom images. This is now fixed. Thanks to Fundardo for reporting this bug!
Also special thanks to all of our beta testers on the forum!
Ready to try out the scenes feature in your next masterpiece? We’re hyped to see what you’ll create! As always, if you have any questions/comments/feedback, please email us at help@gethopscotch.com. Happy Hopscotching!
So it’s giving scenes access to everyone, plus the new scenes changes for everyone as well.
(Change Scene parameters, starting project from scenes menu, play project from the current scene, etc.)
There’s a known issue where you can’t cut/copy/paste when the keyboard is closed. We are planning to have a bug fix release for that and some other bugs.
For a temporary workaround, you may need to tap on another bubble, to make the keyboard appear again. Then you can double-tap or long-press the block you want. We’re sorry about the inconvenience.
Woah, super cool update! I’ve worked around not having access to scenes by having a variable that changes at different points. This should make things so much simpler and more efficient. Plus, I always love trying out new blocks and features
there is no scene button in the new editor, explore 1 minute longer and youll notice the scene editor is there immediately when you open the project lol
If you’re on the classic editor and you did not have the advanced mode turned on, you would not see the scenes button. What you would want to do is to manually switch to the new editor by going to the gear button and selecting “Switch to New Editor”
