Previously, if you had entered text in a value field, you had to manually switch to the letters keyboard to update it. Now, the app will automatically detect whether the field has numbers or letters when you tap it, and the appropriate keyboard will pop up for you. Cool!
Also, you will now find a link to the Hopscotch forum under the ‘Settings’ menu where you can discuss your coding ideas and get your coding questions answered by other Hopscotchers!
A whole bunch of bugs are also now fixed with this version.
For everyone:
-
Your self icon in the keyboard wasn’t changing when you switched characters - no more. It’s fixed!
-
Before, when you pressed ‘add code’ on Chillana, the ‘rename’ field would pop up instead. Now, you’ll see the code editor pop up as expected.
-
Video controls weren’t working if you were using iOS 11. Now, you’ll be able to stop, start, and mute your video if you’re using this version!
For subscribers using the beta editor:
-
If you reloaded a project that had a single ‘save input’ rule, you’d get prompted twice for text. Now, you’ll only be asked once!
-
If you played a project with a rule that prompted you for text a whole bunch of times, there was no way to exit it! Now, you’ll get an option to stop the text prompts.
-
If you entered a single quote in a ‘set text to input’ rule in an object, the object would stay the same instead of showing the quote and the text prompt wouldn’t pop up. Fixed!
-
The ‘draw like a pen’ custom rule wasn’t working in the beta editor. Now, you can use this rule again so players can drag around an object to draw.
-
If you used a ‘save input’ rule, players could enter text, but then if they restarted the game the text input wouldn’t reset. Now it does. Yay!
