This release adds a beta editor where you can test experimental new features. Try it out and give us your feedback–this is your chance to influence the final form of new features we’ll add to Hopscotch.
To enable the beta, go to the gear menu on your profile and tap “Try the beta editor” to see:
scenes: this is still a rough cut, but with scenes, you can easily make multi-stage projects that go on as long as you like.
z-index: get much finer-grained control over the depth appearance of your objects. This should be super useful for adding 3D effects.
destroy: remove an object from the project. Makes it much easier to spawn lots of clones and remove them later (though we are still working on the stability of this).
Bug Fixes:
um, maybe you noticed that your parrots disappeared. Thanks for your patience–he’s back!
I think I’ve found a bug with the parameter. Having used these blocks before this update, it’s definitely changed.
So, the set scene block has the scene parameter, right?
Here’s what happens:
I tap the scene
The first time it gets put in, the scene text stays invisible.
After I exit the block, it looks normal.
When I change the parameter again, it sometimes goes invisible and sometimes fades in and out.
However, if I delete an existing parameter (after reentering the block) then put another one in, it works as intended; the parameter moves into the bubble, the block exits, and the text is there.
Minor visual glitch but thought I’d point it out. It’s great that tapping the bubbles works again, as they didn’t in the previous update. Lmk if you want a screenshot
JSON editing; I’ve been able to do it for over a year now.
The block has been in the webplayer just like the timestamp block COAN used to create his block project, and I’ve known about it since then.
This was one of my first projects with the set scene block. About a year and a half ago. Ever since, I searched through the webplayer more to find out about the cool things these could do and also use them in E-Pad
I’m still unable to access the editor of course (I’m curious as to if that has a scene selector, that would be cool), but the blocks have been a part of the app for a while now and they’re quite cool!
Hmm, I’m interested in the Z index. Not fully sure how bring to front works now, it seems that z index is a secondary index to the normal bring to front and send to back.
