Just use 1.5.9 by renaming the folders, then relaunch the app.

And just to clarify, this player is only broken in the app, so don’t worry about projects in Safari being broken as a result of the bug this is intended to mitigate.

It’s not that kind of player. Refer to AE for more information…

Also, the file is called “WebPlayer”

I also compared the two player versions, and 0.5% of the file has been changed.
