I think this is a cool idea if you’re able to turn it off in case you don’t feel like sharing your status

Discourse is in charge of doing stuff like that.
So, I don’t think Hopscotch can add anything to discourse’s platform.

It should also set the default to off and make the button somewhere easy to access, maybe next to the change your name button?

Currently manual otherwise the forum sign up would have to be sign in with Hopscotch.
