Hey guys, so the seed block if I did not go through that a year ago, the seed block was the block which you could ask people for seeds. These days, there is no seedblock and I was wondering if you could add the seed block into the game for free. Tks

Interesting idea!
I’m guessing the reason they did this was because every seed block project needs to be checked very well so no one abuses it. So if everyone had it that would be tons of projects to check and people would make alts with vps to abuse it. They would also be able to clog up the system this way. Maybe there could be an application for people who don’t pay for the sub? Although the sub still needs to have value and also that would be tons of applications so it would have to be on the forum, and after all THT has to make money.
Not saying its a bad idea, just giving an explanation as to why its like this!

yea, i think agree. imo, the original idea with seed developers were pretty good as it motivates less experienced coders to code more often to have a chance at the block.
people would abuse the seed block just how they abuse mushrooms. ive seen a bunch of people (lots of people i know as well) self planting. it may feel good to have plants to them, but it doesn’t really benefit them in any way.
if there was a way to give everyone the block and avoid abuse of it - this would be a great idea!

Nice idea, I for one do have to subscription, but this would be quite nice for people who don’t, like @/StarlightStudios said, it really would clog up THT’s system, and wouldn’t make them any money.
Again, like @/StarlightStudios said, the subscription needs to have some sort of value, or there’s no point and you’d be paying however-much-it-costs for nothing! And who wants that?!
Although there are some negatives, I do support your idea. I would be rather hard for THT to make this a thing, as I said before: money. They would just have to try and find another good way to make money.

And the seed block also prevents people from editing your code so they can’t get stuff for free. If everyone had the block, people who want to keep their code to themselves can have a donate or something in their game so people can’t edit and steal the code to use as their own.

yeah but if everyone did that on every project, nobody would learn from other people’s techniques and stuff. it’s understandable that people don’t want their code stole, but we have to remember this is just a kids coding app. no code you make is yours, a technique you can up with is really just using the blocks the editor provides you with in different ways and orders.
if everyone’s code was private, there wouldn’t be that many good coders, lots of the coders that made awesome games started out by looking in others’ code and remixing and stuff.

It’s not as simple as that though. Where’s the money that they get? There’s absolutely no use in buying seeds or the subscription. While they would eventually run out of seeds and have to buy more, it would take a while. And there is a free trial to the subscription… And to stop abuse of it like Sls said. And while shops could be easier it makes new problems

Lets say I have 100 seeds. I really want some features in a game and I spend 25 seeds. Now lets say imaginary person 1 has 25 seeds. Then lets say I spend it all on other games. Imaginary person 1-4 now has 25 seeds each maybe by chance. Only 100 seeds would get spread across if no one bought anything. And the subscription gets you seeds every day i think

I see @Bobinny but let’s say the seed block was in the game. What if your game was famous and there was a shop that only accepts seeds. You get seeds for that. The seed block should be added in the geme.

that works only under the condition youre famous, which unfortunately isnt the case for every hopscotchers. in other words, it doesnt change much to some people to have the seed block or not

what do you mean “your famous” that is just unfair for other who are not famous its unfair for the ones who don’t have a chance to ask for the seed block. Every hopcotcher should have the right for the request seed block.

my response about famous was responding to the ideal never-ending seeds when you get the seed block, not in any other way
you now can support hopscotch by buying a subscription which unlocks the seed block
