Hey Hops,
This is the list of requests for tag groups that I have so far. I’ll leave it here.
Looking to edit an existing group? Use this topic!
Rules
- One tag group per person
You can post in this topic to request a group, with the following basic information:
- group username (no spaces)
- list of at least 10 members who have indicated that they would like to join (a poll is fine)
The following information is optional.
- group picture
- group bio
Group username, group photo and group bio can be changed later on, upon request
Starting with future group requests, there are some additional adjustments we are planning to make. These are designed to help make sure that groups remain relevant and useful for the broader community. (These groups will be created in February 2021)
Requirements to create a group
-
Need a minimum of 10 users who want to join, to request a custom group.
Why: This is to make sure you have a minimum number of people who are interested in joining the group.
The custom groups feature is for helping to save time with copying and pasting, and to avoid tag lists being out of date when people want to join or leave.
For example, if there are 2-3 other people with whom you are doing a collab, it is still relatively feasible to tag them individually. So the custom groups feature will be reserved for larger groups where tag lists become less feasible.
How to meet this requirement:
- Have a poll where at least 10 people have voted that they would like to join. This can be done by creating a poll in which the voters are publicly viewable.
- Or have a list of at least 10 people who have agreed to join the custom group
Requirements to keep a group
These would come into effect 365 days after the group has existed, and going forward.
It is mainly to help with clearing old inactive groups that haven’t been used in years, to let us manage the newer groups more easily.
-
The group needs to have at least 5 mentions in the past 365 days. We will start by clearing groups that have had 0 mentions in the last year or so.
Why: This is to make sure that the group is actively being used.
For example, a group to beta-test a game may no longer be needed, once the game is finished and no longer being updated.
The aim of 5 mentions or so, over a year, is to make sure the group meets some threshold of being active, but to not make people feel the need to unnecessarily tag their group.
If you have an older tag group that is not being used anymore, you are definitely welcome to request a new group to replace it (By creating a new group, this would also clear out any inactive members in the group, or people who may no longer be interested in receiving pings)
-
The group needs to have at least 10 people.
Why: Similarly as for the requirement to create a group, the custom groups feature will be reserved for larger groups where tag lists become less feasible.
