It depends on what you’re good at. Hopscotch and Scratch are two of the most popular block based coding softwares out there, and a really good place to start.

And like Tri-Angle has said, you can experiment with various blocks to see the hundreds of possibilities. Some easy things to code are Tappers, Trail / Shape Art, etc.

The best way to debug your code when it doesn’t work for some odd reason is to figure out what didn’t work, then use the Show Pop-up block with some variables related to the issue to see why it didn’t work. It works really great for me. Some cases are harder to understand than others, for some of them, you’ll have to understand how Hopscotch works. All of its code runs from top to bottom, starting in the first object (based on the list in Bird Eye view), to the last object in that list.

My favorite thing to code is an Action-Adventure Platformer. There are several templates (from Spy Guy 96 and me) you can use with credit.
