More Detail on an Existing Bug

Hi, Hopscotch Team and Forum!

The reason for my awkwardly worded title is that I’m pretty sure you already know about this bug, as I’ve seen it discussed on the forum before. My aim with this topic is to provide a little more detail on the bug, so that you might be more educated on fixing it.

Here goes!

Your username: SereneSweets

What kind of device are you using?: iPad Mini; not sure what version.

1 sentence description of the problem: I opened a project, but the objects only performed their first line of code.

Steps to make the problem happen:

  1. Open any project not by self
  2. Expect to see code in action, but:
2a. Any blocks with “leave a trail” draw spastic lines in the bottom left corner
2b. All objects perform one action, then do not respond
2c. Nothing in the project responds to tapping, tilting, etc.

I expected: The code to play out in whatever way the programmer intended.

But instead: The objects in the project only perform the first block in their code.

Here are some sweet screenshots:

This is what happens to a project with a “leave a trail” block:

Here’s an example of the “first block of code” phenomenon, with @Montoya’s “Animation Kit.”

It seems that the blue rectangle created clones, but the clones did not perform any code.

This bug has been present in almost every project I’ve played since the last update, and I haven’t been able to play anything other than my own projects and drafts.

Hops: has anyone else encountered this bug?

  • yes
  • no
  • don’t have Hopscotch

What iOS version do you have?

Hm.

I have not encountered this bug and surprised at the details.
First, I need to ask you a few questions.

1. What version of ios are you using?
2. What time zone are you in?
3. What date and time is your device set to?
4. Have you tried re-downloading Hopscotch or checking the app store for the latest updates?
5. Are all of the tabs on your iPad closed out? (To close out tabs on an iPad, click the home button twice and swipe up on all of the rectangle application boxes)
6. Are you sure the problem isn't on your end?
I hope this helps you, and once I get those answers I can probably help you.
