imagine i hate you (not true no worries lol) and i want to hurt you in a way i dont get caught. easy method is to sign up with a new acc and insult you. so yes, there’s a way to harm us.
but generally it’s just super difficult for the leads to manage all the alts, send warnings, etc etc so they simply decided to ban alts. plus it doesn’t matter if you have one acc or one hundred acc, only your activity is the most important so there’s absolutely no point having an alt except having fun not listening to rules and therefore in the future get silenced and regret what’s been done lol :))
Omg I never thought about that! That’s crazy that people would do that /srs
There are some purposes to use alts, like it would be nice to have a separate acc if your doing a collab, but there’s so many things that could go wrong it’s not worth it to allow them
Others answered your questions already, but thought I’d give an official confirmation!
As other people said, this is a function for people that make the forum software (Discource) to implement. I agree it would be good to have, but it’s sadly outside our control.
In this hypothetical situation: when we notice your alt, we will ask you which account you want to keep. The other account will be suspended indefinitely. Unless something really bad happened, you will not be suspended right away for keeping an alt. However, you will most likely receive a community warning on the account you decide to keep.
They’re difficult for us to manage. If one of your accounts would receive a community warning, we would have to keep your warnings count in sync with all your alts. It would also be confusing for both us and other users if many people used multiple accounts. Imagine if this would be in real life. You’d have to memorize multiple names and appearances for each of your friends!
I’m not able to be active for the next while - so if I miss any questions or requests (especially moderator-specific ones) know it’s not intentional! just pass them along to another leader or moderator :))
