# Incorrect numbering in top gardens

1 sentence description of the problem (I was doing _________, and then __________ happened): I scrolled down top gardens, then realized the numbers were wrong

Steps that the Hopscotch team can take to reproduce my problem every time:

1. Go to top gardens
2. Look at the numbers and scroll down
….

I expected this to happen: 123456667778…

But instead this happened: 12345666999, 12 (wat)

Repeated numbers are not counted as the same rank thing

Idk why this happens, if happening repeatly I think the numbers are messed up? And I think this happens to everyone.

Yes, the system counts 111 as 123
So the next number will be 4
56667 → 56789 → 56669

that’s because there are 3 people tied for 6th, so technically it’s 6-7-8, which means the next number will be 9

I have noticed this before, but I always thought it was what you guys said in the posts above and never thought of it as a bug, and it never bothered me

But the next number is supposed to be 7, not 9
Because 6+1=7

6 + (1 x 3) = 9

Since there are 3 people tied in a position, they count as actual podium values, so they are assigned a position.

Since they don’t want anyone to feel bad that they were higher, they make the position hidden and just say everyone is ( 1 multiplied by how many people there are tied ) so ye

But equal numbers still count as 1 single rank

What don’t you understand? They try to hide the position of the leader ranks of people who are tied so that people don’t feel unjust because they got ranked unfairly? Do you understand now?

If the scores(plants) are:
15, 15, 15, 14, 14, 13, 10, 5, 5, 3
The ranks will be:
1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6
But it is:
1, 1, 1, 4, 4, 6, 7, 8, 8, 10

If number of plants is,

20, 18, 18, 12, 12, 12, 4, 2, 1, 1, 1

Convert each to a variable like this

x, 2y, 3z, a, 3d

Then the numbering system should be

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

But instead, Hopscotch improvises on this and makes this

1, 3 (1 + 2y), 6 (3 + 3z), 7 (6 + a), and 10 ( 7 + 3d )

Final output:

1, 3, 6, 7, 10.

See how much space that saves?
