Image + String concatenation

A feature I’d like to see in Hopscotch is:

the ability to add images and strings together

I’d use it for this type of project:

toucan tapper or any project that displays a character next to text

Here are some examples of Hopscotch code that could be improved if we had this:

it’s annoying position it exactly (I know you can do set position self x position + self width/2 but that’s still a pain lol)

Here is an example design I’ve made:

set image (Toucan image) + toucan awards you 50 scotchos for voting for them

I’ve seen something similar in another programming languages, it looks like this:

N/A

  • I like it
  • I don’t like it
  • Maybe

First non creator post (well 3rd now)

Nice - it’d also be cool to have this with variables and text

I like the idea but do question how it’d be done. Though I probably wouldn’t use the feature, it does sound pretty helpful

basically the ability to add images and strings together to make (image) Hi instead of having 2 individual objects doing it

can’t you do that already?

it’s literally in the faq to try to contribute to the conversation lol

I don’t really know how’d it be done either

You can?

Like you can add varibles in a text?

yes

x = “ joe”
“hi” + var(x)

output: “hi joe”

And it’s pretty annoying when someone says “first post” or “second post” in your topic for absolutely no reason at all. CCC literally said “no saying ____ post.”

It is a good idea, but I can see many compilations with it…
Also 12th post Just kidding

Just so you know, when you say not to say first post, it encourages people to do it.

You can do that already :slightly_smiling_face:

very true

ehh, kinda not the greatest idea imo

cuz its sorta unneeded for 99 percent of occasions.
when will we ever need an image next to text displayed in a uniform fashion where we can’t even change how far apart we want the text and image?

And if you don’t say so, people still do it.

it would make the code easier

I agree. Text can just be positioned next to the image.
