Maybe there should just be a layer option, so maybe a code like set layer to (number) and the higher the number the more in front it would be.
The perfect idea doesn’t exi-
We need this! I don’t exactly know how it would look - maybe a bit like scenes - but it’s awesome!
Oh I forgot lol
But maybe this could also apply to trail art
Use Z index
personally i never use bring to front/send to back
This already exists. It is called the z-index. You can set the z value of an object and higher value ones appear on top.
@Nameless_gamer I was also thinking that it might also work with drawn trails (you know how they’re always in back of objects)
Oh you mean drawing trails on top of shapes/objects. That would be nice .
The way Hopscotch works right now is there’s two canvases being used to draw all Hopscotch shapes, trails, etc. One for trails, and one for objects.
The problem is, the trails canvas is always behind the foreground (characters) canvas, so right now there would be no way to make a trail go in front. That isn’t to say it’s impossible to change, but for context it requires changing a fundamental part of how Hopscotch works.
It certainly would be a nice feature to have though.
But how to use z index?
Imagine you have a lot of transparent papers on your table. You draw a square on one of the papers - but which one? If you draw on the 1st paper (aka Z-Index 1), and if there’s a circle on the 2nd paper (aka Z-Index 2), the square will be under the circle!
So recap: Z-Index is kinda a layer. An object having an high z-index will be on all objects having a lower z-index
Oh thx, (btw sorry I’m late) ;]
I wish we had this.
I love the trail layer idea so much.
