I don’t exactly know the words that get filtered.

Then, this should be in meta hopscotch. Does this need to be moved??

Oh yeah, I don’t know how to move

No you cant. Only regulars and higher can.

I moved it.

So I guess to answer your question partly, the reason is so that nothing inappropriate is shown to kids because this is a coding app. So it isn’t exactly like Roblox moderation- chest is blocked because it may have another inappropriate secondary meaning. So can gun

^^Exactly

I understand what you are trying to say, @Reb, and I know it is strange at first. However, the filtered words on the forum are all filtered for a reason. Even if the word itself isn’t bad, that word could often come up in conversations that aren’t allowed on the forum.

In general, if you accidentally include a filtered word in your post, one of two things will happen:

  1. You will get a pop up saying that your post contains a word that’s not allowed, and you should check over your post to see if it meets the community guidelines and, if it does, try to find a different word to use.
  1. Your post will be posted…kind of. It will only be visible to you and the moderators, and if one of the moderators determines that your post is appropriate, then they will approve it and everyone will be able to see it.

In other (and shorter) words, the filter is there to remind you of the community guidelines (which I highly suggest every user to go read, even if it’s to get a refresher) and to help keep the forum a safe place for everyone.

It’s the same reason why Root B.eer is filtered, even though it’s a harmless soda drink.

Not sure if you mean on the app or forum, but most of them on the app just require moderator approval.

i cant even say a number on roblox

I disagree, that word is violent and shouldn’t be referred too

I will say that this shouldn’t be blocked though.

THT has it’s reasons. though some of these words seem completely harmless, in the right context it can be hurtful or inappropriate, and the best way to avoid that sometimes is to just get rid of the word altogether. but on the flip-side, as others have said, it’s inconvenient that you cannot use these words in your game without it being rejected by the filter.

so my point is that yes, it’s annoying that the filter is this strict, but it’s all to make sure that HS is child friendly :))

In your discussion of words that are filtered, please don’t talk about specific instances where they’re inappropriate - this is the reason they’re filtered.

In the right context, these words would not be appropriate. So, if you post a reply with one of these words, you need a leader to first check if your post is appropriate.

as @/braynee202 said,

[redacted]

it can be considered not appropriate.

also take it more seriously (would that post be flaggable?)

In my opinion, g.un should be blocked as it’s definitely not rare to be used inappropriately.

ch.est is harmless 90% of the time yes- but as others have said it can be used inappropriately as well.

yeah, once in my book, morphed, i wrote something along the lines of “she pulled her knees up to her chest” and was confused why it was filtered.

Hi there @Reb!
I understand that it may be frustrating to have some words filtered, especially if you think that they are fine. Usually, those words are fine to be used, but in certain contexts they can be very inappropriate or hurtful of others. Because of this, the Hopscotch team has chosen to filter these words so they can ensure that inappropriate things are not posted.

Hopscotch is made for kids, and the words that are filtered are for their safety and protection. Every family has different standards for words that they consider inappropriate or violent which can vary because of religion, culture, or personal preference.

I’m going to go ahead and close this topic, since I believe this answers your question, but if you have any more questions about words that are filtered in the app, you can reach out to hello@gethopscotch.com.
