You can explore the web version of Hopscotch today at hopscotch.fun.

With our web platform, you’ll be able to:

  • Play games made by other users or challenge yourself to create your own.
  • Code projects using our brand-new coding editor, designed to make coding even more optimized for desktop screens. The UI has been updated to make coding on bigger devices feel smoother and more intuitive.

Coming Soon…

  • New Hopscotch Characters
  • Custom Rules/Blocks
  • Mobile-View Support

This is a big step for us in bringing the magic of coding to more creators around the world, and we can’t wait for you to try it! If you have any questions or feedback, we would love to hear from you. Send us an email at hello@gethopscotch.com.

Thank you for being part of our community, and as always, Happy Hopscotching!

I’m guessing this means we have to wait a bit longer to use custom rules / blocks… what would happen if we tried to edit a project that contains custom rules / blocks?

This sounds interesting…

You can edit projects with custom rules/blocks, but you won’t be able to create new custom block/rules on web yet.

Ok, I have discovered a lot of issues with the new editor

  • Objects and Characters in objects keyboard sometimes fail to render when scrolling (same with code blocks in the code editor thing)
  • When dragging some blocks, the offset is set too far to the right
  • When editing a parameter that only excepts yellow variables, it instead shows the orange trait variables
  • Cannot add bubbles/variables to parameters in blocks inside containers
  • The area where you drag to delete blocks sometimes sticks around indefinitely

It would be much more convenient if we could tap a block and choose “delete” rather than have to drag them one by one.

I also see yellow variables are also not available yet…

I just took a screenshot to compare image quality between uploading one via the app, and uploading one via hopscotch.fun

Do any of you notice any difference?

The publish button doesn’t seem to actually work…

I am currently trying the editor out and uh… How do I make a variable lol?

Also, I found a bug. I am currently trying to exit a project but it seems to be stuck.

Yeah, I do. The image on the right seems to be slightly higher quality!

Is there any way to add custom images with seeds? /gq

I’m hyped to start coding with this though :D

@Crosbyman64 @Spy_Guy_96

Thank you for reporting the bugs. I will note them down. Alternatively, you can also use the feedback button on the lower right corner of the screen. This button is connected to the Hopscotch Slack channel so our team gets real-time notifications for them.

User variables are not yet available on Hopscotch web. You can scroll to the end of Object, User, and Game variable sections to create those variables.

We’ve done image optimization on iOS, so it’s likely that iOS app compresses image size. Hopscotch.fun doesn’t do that right now, so it should upload a better quality.

You can try to use this time to upload bigger images/replace some of the images in your project before we get to image optimization - You didn’t hear it from me, haha!

are there ads now?

YES FINNALY THANK YOU

They’re not external ads, but you will have to wait for 30 seconds for every 3 games you play if you’re a non-subscriber (the exact number of games/wait time could change). Purchasing a Play Pass or a subscription will get you our of this. This helps us to pay for storage and server bills. Eventually, we’d like to also pay/reward our creators for the games on Hopscotch again (similar to the seed developers).

Personally, I like it better this way.

If only there was a way to compress image file size without affecting its overall quality…

Wait but you don’t get ads when you code right?
