Hey Hops!
We’re very proud to announce that we’ll be bringing back the Bi-Annual Leader Awards, as well as some new ones!
Here’s how this will work:
You guys will have the opportunity to nominate your fellow forumers for the awards listed below. These are the community nominated awards. They are based off of the contributions that you make to the community on this forum. Take note of your fellow Hopscotchers and how their posts add value to the community. As a forum member, you get the opportunity to nominate your peers for their: ability and willingness to help others with the Hopscotch app, discover and share fun or unique ways to code, keep conversations relevant and positive, explore group projects, and other fun ways to make this community a vibrant part of the Hopscotch coding environment.
Below is a list of the possible awards you can nominate forumers for. All you have to do is create a post saying which forumer you nominate and for which award. If you’d like, you may also include a brief summary of why you nominated them. You may nominate the same person for a maximum of 3 awards, but no more, to keep it fair for everyone.
However, there are a couple ground rules we’d like you to follow.
-
Please refrain from commenting on other people’s nominations. Do not say that you disagree or second a nomination.
This is to avoid influencing others and also to make sure no feelings get hurt. - That being said, please do not nominate your friend just because they’re you’re friend or because they asked to be nominated. Nominate someone because you feel they deserve the award.
We understand that they may be your friend but we don’t want relationships like that influencing the outcome of these awards. -
Please don’t self-nominate or ask to be nominated
While it is awesome that you feel you deserve the award, wait until someone else nominates you. These are community awards to give some excellent forumers recognition. While you are an amazing forumer, that’s not the point of this, and self-nominations do not reflect the ideas of the whole community. Asking to be nominated is essentially the same.
Now, without further ado, here are the lists of awards.
Community Nominated Awards:
- Most Positive Commenter
- Most Improved Commenter
- Best Fireman (helps avoid flame wars)
- The Stickler (keeps users on topic in a positive way)
- Writer’s Corner (not necessarily the best writer, but the most recognized for posting stories)
- Artist’s Canvas (not necessarily the best artist, but the most recognized for posting art)
- Coding Guru (not necessarily the best coder, but most recognized for helping with code)
- Double Duty (posts the most on both the app and the forum)
- Candle Burner (seems to be on the forum all the time)
These above awards are the ones you may nominate someone for.
There are also Leader and THT awards that will be announced at a later date. We will be the only ones deciding who gets those, and will be voting on all nominations for the community awards.
Badges will be created for each honor and may be awarded multiple times. Each winner in a category will be ineligible to win that same award in the next award cycle to allow rotation of recipients and to encourage all users to pursue excellence.
Nominations are open until Tuesday, November 26th 2019. Then, THT and the leaders will vote. Award winners will be announced and badges will be granted on Thursday, November 28th 2019. You may have noticed that this is on thanksgiving. These awards are our thanks to the whole amazing community, and the community’s thanks to the award winners.
