Emoji Flags Not Compatible

Use this template to make awesome bug reports:

What kind of device are you using?:
iPad 5th gen latest iOS
1 sentence description of the problem (I was doing _________, and then __________ happened):
I was making a flag to be tapped on for Hoplympics and used an emoji and it showed up as the country’s abbreviation
Steps that the Hopscotch team can take to reproduce my problem every time:

  1. Use emoji in text object
  2. Play project
    ….

I expected this to happen:
The flag to show up
But instead this happened:
It showed up as the country’s abbreviation
Here’s a sweet screenshot:

Btw, this is pretty annoying to me. Can’t really code my Hoplympics project if this happens (at least the way I want it, ig I could improvise).

In what version was it added to Apple Emojis?
Is hopscotch updated?

Yes

Can you post a list of emojis that aren’t working for you?

Using highly logical assumptions, I think it’s all country flags because all other emojis work fine

EDIT: made a new draft and others emojis won’t even show in the project?

Did you try other flags or just Italy?

Why not go test them

It’s all the flags

Made a new draft, other flags were messed up but other emojis didn’t show

You want me to test over 195 flags?

what Hopscotch version is this again (number, I already know it is the latest)? Is there an update today?

I didn’t have that issue. Well the Hopscotch app version I’m running doesn’t have support for these

I’m running 3.40.2 (2)

3.40.1 I think?

This is really strange. I don’t know too much about this subject - but the emojis should be rendered by the device, not Hopscotch.

Apparently, your device has a version that can show the emoji as it appears in the code without the weird characters you see when playing the project. Have you restarted the project and the app?

It can also possibly be a problem with the player rendering engine Pixi.js.

I’ve done it with a new draft and a newly restarted app and it still doesn’t work

I’m pretty sure it’s just a player bug

Alright. Still - weird.
