1 sentence description of the problem (I was doing _________, and then __________ happened): I was making a thumbnail and an invisible/sized 0 object appeared

Steps that the Hopscotch team can take to reproduce my problem every time:

  1. have an object set size 0
  2. try making a thumbnail
    ….
note: I don’t know if this can consistently be reproduced, I’ve just seen it 3 times in the past 2 days

I expected this to happen:
the sized 0 object to be sized 0
But instead this happened:
it was sized 100 seemingly
Here’s a sweet screenshot:

This has never happened to me before. Interesting.

@fundardo you’ve experienced this in the summer comp draft right?

it seems as if the object “set size 0” has no effect, if I set invisibility to 100 it’s fine

tested with another project and Sprite ended up in top left corner not sized 0 even with a Set Position block

I guess you’ll just have to use set invisibility to 100 rather than set size to 0.

Hmm weird.

Weirrrrd? Mmm

I cannot as it’s a transition, but I wasn’t planning on using that for the thumbnail

but it can be reproduced if you want to try it to confirm

Yes and it’s actually not only where I showed you, there’s other places too

JavaScript canvas bug – this happens when it takes a screenshot of the project: it renders the object because it handles size 0% differently. You can actually do some really cool things with it, like what I have in Minigames 2 (v4) when you hit publish remix while in a game.

Meaning the behavior is actually quite predictable. You can set invisibility to 100% only while size = 0 to solve the problem, though it may be inconvenient at times.

so it isn’t a just bug specifically in Hopscotch?

I’ve had this issue many times before and have had to create special start screens to use as a thumbnail to avoid this issue

Maybe broken in latest update?

It is specific to Hopscotch, but it has to do with JS canvas rendering

It has been around for years now
