I just noticed something… (@t1_hopscotch)
In the editor, the custom image looks normal (aside from the low quality), but while playing the project, the image looks unsaturated (and it’s very noticeable).

Maybe it’s a contrast difference?
But then again it would’ve probably looked more saturated on a white background…

could be bc of the background color possibly
white can wash some colors out sometimes

I just changed the background to black and got the same result, so it’s not just a coincidence.
Also, if the color was the problem, it would only wash out the edges.
Also, I’m on a mini-led display, so it’s not due to the backlight.

Also, it’s not an illusion, as the center in the editor has an HSB value of 49,69,82 (which is normal for Display P3), but in play mode, it has an HSB value of 48,58,81 (that’s a huge difference in saturation, and it seems to be typical if the image got automatically converted to sRGB in order to make itself compatible with devices that can’t view Display P3 colors)
If it was caused by the background color, both values would’ve been exactly the same, just look different.
