Crash - text turning into black rectangles

1 sentence description of the problem (I was doing _________, and then __________ happened): If you have lots of special characters, in my examples I have a bunch in 27 different clones, and some changing text, either the text becomes black rectangles or the project crashes or both.

Steps to make the problem happen:

  1. Make several text objects using special text with spaces. An example is petrichor’s project on featured.
    Cloud Jumper by Petrichor.
  2. Add at least one text which changes.
    ….

I expected this to happen: The project would work like it did before.

But instead this happened: It crashes and looks weird.

Here’s a sweet screenshot: Here it messes with the height instead of making a black rectangle.

I should’ve said I only noticed it today. It was not happening on Friday at least.

It did do that, but I exited before it crashed.
I’m not sure why it does this.

That’s been happening to me sometimes inside Round-Up

The text turns into a rectangle and the whole project crashes!

The number only updates every 1-5 seonds, that’s not lag (maybe) – I think it is just about device

Restart this project a few times rapidly and the bug is triggered

Try using the Hopscotch app instead of Chrome

Maybe that’s how you didn’t experience the issue

I got to my iPad and no issue (Air 2 2014, iOS 11.3.1).

This is…intriguing to say the least. I’m not sure what I was trying to find, but I can tell you I’m using IOS 12.1 with Hopscotch 3.33.0

Can you share some more details about this crash:

  1. What were you doing before Hopscotch crashed? What was the project you were last playing? Were you playing one project for a long time, playing a specific project, making something? If you can share the exact steps you took to get this crash, that would be most helpful.
  2. Has this happened only once or does it every time you do something?
  3. Where are you from?
  • What language is your iPad set to?
  • What timezone is your iPad set to?
  1. Were you at school when this happened?
  2. Can you make this crash happen again? If so, how?
  3. Lastly, can you send us a crash log? That will help us identify what’s going wrong. Here’s how:

If your computer is a Mac:

  1. Sync your iPad to a computer using Apple’s directions
  2. Open a Finder window and select Go to Folder… from the Go menu (or press Shift-Command-G). A dialog box should appear.
  3. Copy and paste the following into the box and press the Return key:
    ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice
  4. Open the folder name of the device you’ve synced.
  5. Select the most recent or relevant crash logs. The name of each log file will include the app, the date and time the file was created, and the device, such as:
    Hopscotch_2015-05-07-042617_iPad.crash
  6. Attach the log files in reply to us

If your computer is Windows:

  1. Sync your iPad to a computer using Apple’s directions
  2. Open Windows Explorer.
  3. Copy and paste the following into the address bar and press the Enter key:
    %APPDATA%\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\
  4. Open the folder name of the device you’ve synced.
