Crash on iOS 12.1.1 on HS 3.33.0 which isn't happening on older iOS versions

Use this template to make awesome bug reports:

Your username: Hopscotcher
(There are 2 :sunglasses:s after Hopscotcher but the forum can’t show that.)

What kind of device are you using?: An iPad released in 2018

1 sentence description of the problem (I was doing _________, and then __________ happened): I was trying to get a high score on my game, I reached 8000, got happy, then it crashed!

Steps to make the problem happen:

  1. Make project.
  2. Make a counter that goes up every frame.
  3. Let it go to big number.
  4. Crash.

I expected this to happen: It wouldn’t crash.

But instead this happened: It crashed.

Here’s a sweet screenshot:
Well I can’t really take a screenshot.

It was probably an overload for the app

#3

But how come @Awesome_E was able to get over 12000? Explain more to me please.

#4

Idk maybe he has a different kind of iPad that can get higher before hs crashes

#5

HIS DEVICE DID NOT CRASH! HE FELL THROUGH THE PLATFORM!!

#6

Well sorry I don’t get this

#7

Weird. Can you post a link to the project? That would be helpful.

#8

It’s on featured, but ok.

#9

Aha, you mean that one. I have no idea then. Has this occured more than one time?

#10

Yes. I think three. I tried beating @Awesome_E’s high score, but it crashed a lot.

#11

Try to report this to THT then. Or did you get a message like “Hopscotch quit unexpectedly - do you want to report this?” when Hopscotch crashed?

#12

I didn’t get a message like that.

#13

Then, you should try to email them. Do you know their email?

#14

Yes. You told me in my general topic.

#15

Good. Then you know what to do

#16

Few apps give these messages now

#17

This bug seems to only affect iOS 12.1 and above.
I have iOS 11 on my iPad and had no issues with crashing.
This bug used to happen with the same type of thing on a way older version

#18

Didn’t do that for me.
Maybe some devices can’t handle big amounts for a variable?

#19

I have gotten that message one or maybe even a few times - so I know that it is possible on Hopscotch at least.

#20

This is now fixed, it’s the same bug that @PeppyWafer21 mentioned.

Crash and/or text turning into black rectangles when you have a lot of fancy characters and changing text
