Code Undo Deletion Crash ‮[NEPO]

1 sentence description of the problem (I was doing _________, and then __________ happened):
I was creating a loop to draw a circle, and then I accidentally deleted the code. (I think. I accidentally moved it and it disappeared.) So then I shook my phone so it would undo, and the app crashed. The project can be opened to edit, however it won’t run, and the app crashes if you try to edit the object you did this on.

Steps to make the problem happen:

  1. Create some code
  2. Try to move it but it somehow disappears
  3. Shake to undo “deletion”
  4. Click undo
  5. Project crashes
    ….

I expected this to happen:
The code to run
But instead this happened:
The app crashed and the project no longer works

Yeah it happens sometimes I don’t know why?

That is really weird! I haven´t experienced this before. Does this bug make your project totally un-playable, even if you restart it?

Yes. It won’t play, and you can’t edit the object with the code to fix it. However if you delete the object, it works but then you lose everything.

That is really weird. Can you possibly take a look at the JSON?

I can’t right now. I’m out of town and also grounded from my laptop.

Okay, that´s a bummer. Can you email THT and ask them to fix this?

This issue is still relevant, it actually happened to me when updating Minigames and I had to recode and entire object from memory

Can you give us more info please?

Well, this was a while ago. Basically, I deleted a giant if Loop in the object, and I was panicking as usual when something huge goes wrong. I decided to try “undo”, and the result was a corrupted ability (most likely, I should have looked at the JSON file and given more info), which made it so that every time I entered the object, it crashed

Cool, I’ll try to reproduce. Thanks.

No problem! It probably has to do with how Hopscotch handles deleted abilities before you resented a project, maybe the UUID was “invalid and caused something weird to happen”
