Better tilt variables

A feature I’d like to see in Hopscotch is:

A version of tilt up/tilt down that is 0 when the device is facing forward instead of straight down.

I’d use it for this type of project:

A project where I want to be able to tell the angle the device is relative to being held straight out, instead of going up and going down being completely identical.

Here are some examples of Hopscotch code that could be improved if we had this:

Currently, if you hold the device straight out, tilt up will be 100. If you move it up, it will go down. If you move it down, it will also go down. There is no way to tell these two apart. It would be much better if we did.

That would be cool! Based on this I think that information is available from the hardware (from the quaternion you can recover everything about orientation, the math is beautiful but often explained badly) but I don’t know if it is available via whatever APIs HS is currently using (which could determine whether it is possible for HS to supply what you want).

Yeeeeessssss this would be so useful! I tried to use this when I was making Sky Jump!, but it didn’t exist.
