This isn’t like google docs. This would be a different system. Google docs, anyone with edit permissions can submit without confirmation. Basically, read only, edit with confirmation, and edit fully.
edit with confirmation = can comment on docs. (that’s exactly how it works)
Ok so here’s what I’m getting
- Viewer: Can read but needs confirmation from an admin to apply edits made
- Member: Can make edits without confirmation.
- Admin: Can make edits, confirm edits, and add people to be admin/member.
- Owner (only 1): Can rename and delete the project, and transfer owner to other people.
Cool that’s what I’m thinking
Isn’t that just the current community?
No, the current community consists of remixes. Contributing to a project will add code to someone’s project without remixing, or making it your own. It’s so many people can contribute directly to one thing.
I’m not sure how that would be better than remixes. What benefits would it have over them, other than organization?
Everyone contributing to one project. It’s kinda hard to track down the source of a remix, or combine them all into one project.
bump
big bump
Sounds like this would be a good idea to have in hopscotch
yeah! and maybe a third role- viewer- they cannot edit the project officially, but they can add whatever code they want and a notification will be sent to the owners saying they made a suggestion, and showing what they changed, but the code they added will be deleted if the owner doesn’t take it
i feel like now we have undo/redo this could definitely happen, since hopscotch is now keeping track of what was changed so this wouldn’t be too hard to implement (but what do i know), and it would be super helpful - the only thing i would add is that you could publish one project on both accounts and have this:
Ooh and maybe when in the editor show parts that other people edited! But then what about the seed block? Who would get the seeds
well they would add have to be seed devs to collaborate i assume, so theyd be split and in any uneven amount- more would be given to the owner
i don’t see why we’d have to that - everyone collaborated, everyone receive the same reward
i mean, for example, if there were 3 collaborators and they earned 6 seeds from a purchase, theyd all get two but if the same happened with 7 seeds the owner would get three
The extra seed(s) can be put in a leftover stash, and when they get enough seeds to evenly distribute it, then it’ll divide it up.
oh yeah, thats a much better idea
Yeah that is a good idea!
But there is a rule because people who are not seed devs could make a collab with an alt and seed dev or someone who also wants seeds and just add 2 comment blocks or something that does not contribute to anything.
I know that the seed dev would have to accept but that includes using the honour system.
So maybe comment blocks do not count as helping in a collab
