Aero 2 Is out!
Sorry about the delay I had some big finals, so I had to take a break I decided I needed a bit of a longer break especially since I worked on this game for over 6 months straight. This game is an expanded Aero with a new map that takes place in Japan. Now lets talk about what this game has to offer. As you move to the Japan Festival its time to meet some new characters, and say goodbye to most of the friend you made in Hawaii.
Map and Map Menu Changes
The map is what you will all explore when you fly, The map this time around is a bit smaller than the Hawaii Map but it has much more detail with the trees, structures, and more events to do on each map, and challenges
Also when you progress in the game more the characters will talk to you in the menu instead of throwing events at you with no dialogue like in the first game
A huge quality of life change you can tap and hold on an event icon and it will tell you details about that event like how much cash it will reward you with and you can even set the destination to that event, so now no more having trouble finding the events, but you can only not set destination to plane wrecks since your supposed to find them.
Main Champaign
More of a story in this game, although there still is not a really a story. The characters will talk to you for the first time in the map menu where they tell you about your progress in the game so far. There is a new cast of characters. Such as Akira, Aiden, Kei, and Yuki will talk to you here. The campaign menu will tell you what to complete in order to progress unlike the first game where I believe you had a complete a certain number of events in total to unlock more.
Playable Events
Just like first game we have Landing Challenges, Airshow, and Airports. But here we also have showcase events which are much fun and you get to fly blimps, and helicopters instead of planes. We also have PR Stunts that you play in free roam such as Stunt Zone, Flight Zone, Speed Trap, which require a diverse selection of planes to get the bests scores in.
Wheelspins and Level up system
By playing events, and PR stunts you get XP once you level up you will be given a wheelspin a wheelspin allows you to unlock some planes you can buy for cash, some cash rewards, and the special Aero Edition variants of planes. Which are upgraded versions of some of the best planes in game. As of right now you can only get Aero Edition planes from the Wheelspins, but maybe there will come some special chances to unlock them in the future without the wheelspins.
Balloons
Through the Japan Map there are hidden Japan balloons for you to pop, pop them and they will contain xp rewards to help you get more of those special wheelspins.
There is also a Festival mission this where you need to find and pop a special sunrise balloon that is somewhere in the sky of Nagasaki. Balloons can only show up in free roam and not while your playing an event just be aware.
Festival Event Revamp
Aero 1’s festival event
Shortly after the first games release I introduced an special event system called the “Festival Event” basically you had to complete in game events to get festival coins that you can use to buy the featured planes. Since at the time it was harder to update stuff with the seed block, that’s why the festival event was kind of bad since I did not really have the time to make a better one from the ground up.
Aero 2’s Festival event
Instead of a “Festival coin” currency instead your completing missions to earn points there are exclusive planes you can unlock for points. There is a special seed plane that is more of a bonus plane if you really want to have an extra plane for this month is the cover plane of the game the Mitsubishi SpaceJet. The Festival events will be normally around a month long however this first event will be here for two weeks, make sure to grab the 2 excusive planes before they go away! Some Missons are worth more points than others, make sure to look which ones you want to do for the best points, although the lockheed you will need to complete every mission to get it this event.
New Physics
The physics is something you all wanted changed, they are not perfect they might get tweaked a bit post launch, I tried to keep the control scheme similar to the first game as much as possible there might be some additional tweaks to it at some point as it feels sort of dated now. But there’s engine power now that you need to adjust Aswell as plane speed, the planes feel different from each other, acceleration is another stat too, Aswell as weight which effects the acceleration stat. there is landing physics where it bumps the ground, which dependents on the vertical speed.
Pr Stunts
These are fun activities you can do in free roam around the map. You can notice them by the rings in the sky
Speed traps
They have a light blue ring once you enter it records your speed, faster you go the more stars you can get from it.
Flight Zones
They have a red ring once you enter you have to fly through the upcoming red rings then fly through all the rings and try to get a fast as possible time. Faster the time more stars you can get, make sure not to miss a ring or it does fail it for you.
Stunt Zones
They have a green ring once you enter you have to fly through the upcoming rings then fly through all the rings, while you try to do the airshow stunts like flips, doing these stunts rack up points. more points you get the more stars you can get, make sure not to miss a ring or it does fail it for you.
Day Night Cycle
Aero 2 has an hourly cycle where it starts off as sunrise then it goes to day then sunset and night, there are a few other transitional phases Aswell. It makes the environment feel much more alive than it always being a bright summer day like it did in the first game. Some events do lock the cycle like Tutorial it will always be day, and Sunrise Cross Country (where its locked in sunrise as its in the name)
Radio stations
Just like in the first Aero, Music is a key thing the same is centered around, we have some new DJ’s replacing some of the old ones.
Aero Rocks
Previously hosted by Wesly Anderson, Aero rocks is now hosted by Moa Mizuno, who was born and raised in Japan and she has always had a fondness for rock, she is hoping to one day to start a rock band of her own. The station features Rock music, some artists include blink-182 and Digitalism
Fusion Radio
Previously hosted by Lily Sulivan, Ethan Komoto who also goes by “DJ Komoto” he is brand new and inexperienced at times, Luckly Luke Turner from Bass Town is helping showing him the ropes, to help Ethan grow into more of an experienced DJ. Fusion Radio features mainly Pop songs from, some artists include Glass Animals and Porter Robinson
Bass Town
Hosted by the one and only Luke Turner, being one of two characters to return from the first game. He is also the only DJ to return to Aero 2. Luke Turner tries to hype everyone up all the time, with the power of electronic music. Some artists include Midnight Kids and Marshmello
Every station features 4 songs with 1 song that comes from a Japanese artist to add more of the Japan culture into Aero along with the other music ingame. Making a total of 12 songs, 11 of which where coded off of real songs and 1 composed by me.
Also during the events now, the songs will loop instead of them changing from time to to time the songs are much longer now than what they were in the first game. Also a few songs also that play in specific events like in the first game the intro song “Everything You Are” by Midnight Kids does play during the tutorial. So does “Sunrise” By Elijah Pw during the Sunrise cross country
Other quality of life changes and other changes
This is a very hidden feature but in the change plane menu you can now swipe instead of manually typing in the brand you want to see, you can still find the brand that way but swiping does make it a bit easier in some cases.
Settings Menu this was in the orginal aero game but was scrapped do to bugs with the scenes, since Aero 2 does not use scenes anymore for the different menus while you’re inside the game. you can change around you settings to match your play style make sure to hit save.
The ATR 72, and the CubCrafters X-club have new models when you fly them that look much better than they did in the First Aero game

As you can see over 6 months of work and there is a lot of new content here, there will be post launch content such as a plane pack, and expansion. Since they made it easier to get it unfiltered with the block expect to see some much bigger updates now. Please let me know of any feedback, or bugs you find. There probably is still quite a bit of bugs I didn’t catch. The critical game breaking bugs should be fixed for the most part. I’m hoping to release a Hot Fix later this week to fix some issues that are found.
