20 characters trick doesn’t work...for me

#1

So,I found this trick where you can reply to someone without using 20 characters. It’s the <> trick. But it doesn’t work for me…what’s going on?

#2

Maybe you’re not putting enough characters inside the <>?

#3

I don’t think so…I’ve seen people reply to posts with “ok”. I tried to do that between the <>. It didn’t work…

#4

it won’t work if you write actual sentences

#5

Then I don’t know what’s happening sorry

#6

<see? this doesn’t work>

#7

Oh,it’s fine then

#8

Okay

#9

Hm…ok…but I just tried to type “ok” in between the <> and it didn’t work.

#10

Just write gibberish between the <>

#11

Like others said, only some characters work. That is because the forum things that the things inside the brackets are HTML-code.

I think that this is what you can’t put inside the brackets (I’m pretty sure that more things doesn’t work though):

  • Any dots or characters that normally end sentences (like ?,!,. etc.)
  • Emojis like :grinning:,,,:slightly_smiling_face:,:baguette_bread: etc.
  • “Not too normal” text characters like ✿.
  • Mathematical operators except “=” in some cases.

Oh,ok!
