I honestly don't really feel any difference between good and bad styluses, other than lifespan. Weighting could be a difference, I guess.
I'd say go for it! Buy a decent one, not an overly stylistic one, you totally deserve it. I personally find the thin-ish weighted ones (tested in a fancy apple store) to be really nice!
However, I will say that saving up to buy an art pad kit (i.e. art tablets for computers) could also be pretty worth-it.
As for me, well, I find better control with drawing with my finger digitally, because using styluses creates the impression that pressure will be an issue, which it isn't.
Unless I'm using a tablet pen or a pressure-sensing stylus like the Paper Pencil or the Apple Pencil, speed, not pressure, is going to be an issue. I don"t have that with drawing normally.
